Individual Counseling

At Turtle Path Counseling, our one-on-one sessions can be completed at our office in Holland, Michigan or on our Telehealth platform.  Sessions are designed to meet your unique needs in a supportive and confidential environment. Together, we will explore personal challenges while integrating mental, physical, and spiritual wellness on your path to healing.

  • Trauma Work:  Helping individuals reconnect with their bodies, emotions, and sense of self while fostering overall wellbeing.
  • Identity Exploration:  Understanding your sense of self, gaining clarity about your identity in an affirming, safe environement.
  • Chronic Illness:  Long term health conditions can significantly impact well-being; a therapeutic partner can help you adapt and manage symptoms to make life more meaningful.
  • Life Transitions:  Significant changes or shifts in life or circumstances such as relationship conflicts, illness, death of a loved one, job loss, and parenthood can benefit from working with an experienced professional using self reflection, emotional support and skill building.
  • Mood Stability:  Learn to maintain balanced emotions over time, minimizing extreme fluctuations in mood such as highs and lows and managing emotion responses to stressors.

Family Therapy

Acquire components, strategies and structure to benefit from over 17 years of experience working with partners and families building relationships.  I use creative modalities that are based on the history, beliefs, values, and hopes of your personal family.   Attachment themes, communication exploration, intergenerational trauma, adoption, discipline challenges and adult children relationships are central themes in my work with families.

  • Communication:  Building components to effective, authentic, and clear communication in your personal and professional relationships using your own style and personality.
  • Emotional Awareness:  Recognizing and expressing feelings among family members or partners to foster understanding and resolve conflicts.
  • Attachment and Relationship Perspectives:  Gaining an understanding of family dynamics and attachment patterns to understand how behaviors and emotions influence one another and addressing patterns that contribute to conflict.
  • Cultural and Contextual Factors:  Acknowledging the cultural, social, and economic contexts that shape relationships, ensuring that therapy is sensitive to these influences.
  • Mindfulness and Presence:  Incorporating mindfulness practices to help family members stay present, reduce anxiety, and enhance connection.
  • Self Leadership Approach:  Understanding who you are, identifying your desired experiences, and intentionally guiding yourself toward them. Focusing on strengths and resources within the family or relationship, empowering members to build on existing positive attributes.
  • Creative Expression:  Ulitizing art, play, music, dance, and nature-based modalities to facilitate communication, understanding and building of community.
  • Wellness Practice:  Integrating healthy living skills, with stress management and healthy lifestyle choices to support overall well-being and reinforce the therapeutic process.

Nature-Based Therapy

Experience the healing power of nature through our innovative therapy sessions. By incorporating outdoor elements into our practice, we emphasize the connection between the natural world and mental well-being. Nature-based therapy helps reduce anxiety, improve mood, and promote mindfulness, allowing you to engage with the environment while working on personal growth and emotional healing.

Nature-based therapy uniquely combines the benefits of the outdoors with therapeutic practices. This approach acknowledges the profound impact that nature can have on mental health. By engaging with the environment, clients often find increased relaxation and perspective, making it an effective complement to traditional therapy.

  • Utilizing nature's healing properties
  • Promoting mindfulness and relaxation
  • Encouraging outdoor engagement for holistic healing
